2019 is shaping up to be our most exciting year yet
Bleecker Street is pleased to announce the following updates to our 2019 slate:
A gripping true story of humanity and heroism, Hotel Mumbai vividly recounts the 2008 siege of the famed Taj Hotel by a group of terrorists in Mumbai, India. Refusing to leave their guests, the renowned chef Hemant Oberoi (Anupam Kher) and a waiter (Academy Award-Nominee Dev Patel, Slumdog Millionaire) choose to risk their lives to keep everyone safe. As the world watches on, a desperate couple (Armie Hammer, Call Me By Your Name and Nazanin Boniadi, “Homeland") is forced to make unthinkable sacrifices to protect their newborn child.
Bleecker Street recently acquired this powerful and inspiring biopic starring Aldis Hodge and Greg Kinnear and directed by Tom Shadyac (Evan Almighty, I Am, Ace Ventura). The very timely and true story revolves around Brian Banks, an All-American football player already committed to USC when he is falsely accused of rape during his junior year of high school. Driven by the same thoughtfulness and focus that propelled him as an athlete, Banks continues to fight to clear his name, ultimately partnering with the California Innocence Project.
Bleecker Street is also pleased to announce the acquisition of Teen Spirit starring Elle Fanning alongside Rebecca Hall, and Zlatko Burić and directed by Max Minghella. Fanning plays Violet, a shy teenager living in the Isle of Wight who dreams of pop stardom as an escape from her small town and shattered family life. With the help of an unlikely mentor, Violet enters an international singing competition that will test her integrity, talent and ambition.
